Kilfinan Australia and the nation’s philanthropic community responds to the Uluru Statement

Kilfinan Australia is proud to sign an open letter from Australia’s philanthropic community in response to the Uluru Statement From the Heart. The Uluru Statement was released in May 2017 after a year-long consultation process between 13 Regional Dialogues and represents a historic mandate for change and Indigenous constitutional reform.

Along with 61 other members of Australia’s philanthropic community, Kilfinan Australia supports the call for a reconciled Australia. We endorse the establishment of a First Nations Voice enshrined in the Constitution as well as a referendum to achieve this. In addition, we advocate for a Makarrata Commission to supervise a process of agreement-making between First Nations and government and recognise the need for truthful history-telling to better understand the ongoing impacts of colonisation.

Kilfinan Australia shares the vision for a nationhood that upholds the right of First Nations to walk proudly in two worlds and is committed to working with and standing by First Nations to achieve the Uluru Statement.
