When Paul Somers stepped into the role of leading Stewart House, he felt the honour of running an organisation he describes as one of the most special places across NSW and the ACT. He also felt the isolation and weight that come with the top job.

His mentor Corene drew on her experience leading several organisations to help him see that the challenges he faced were rarely his alone. She tested his ideas with rigour while giving him the confidence to take them forward.

Paul says Corene’s guidance has helped him feel more resilient and grounded as a leader. He values knowing she is available beyond their regular catch-ups, especially during the weeks when the job asks the most. That support helps him keep the direction clear, for himself and for the great team around him.
