Chief Marketing Officer, UNICEF Australia

I wanted to take a moment to share how valuable I’ve found the Kilfinan mentoring program – it’s been an incredibly rewarding experience. As Chief Marketing Officer at UNICEF Australia, I’m often immersed in high-level strategy, fundraising and brand leadership, and cross-functional collaboration. This program has provided a rare opportunity to step back, reflect and invest in my own growth with intention.

The structured conversations and thoughtful guidance have helped me sharpen my leadership approach, especially in navigating complex decisions and fostering a culture of innovation and outside thinking.

My mentor, Karen Penrose, a highly experienced non-executive director for government, private and charitable organisations, has been instrumental in this journey. Her ability to challenge my thinking while offering grounded insights has helped me see new perspectives and refine how I lead teams, communicate vision, and drive impact.

Beyond the tactical benefits, the program has reminded me of the power of mentorship itself – how meaningful it is to have a space for honest dialogue, shared learning, and mutual growth. It’s been a privilege to participate, and I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity.

This experience has inspired me to become a mentor myself. I’m now supporting a new fundraising leader, and it’s been really rewarding to share what I’ve learned and help someone else grow. It’s a great reminder of how powerful mentorship can be.
