Emerging leaders
It is critical for today’s not-for-profits to look ahead to the future and recognise the need to cultivate a talent pipeline, finding and developing the next generation.
Social purpose leaders are distributed across all levels, and among them are the people who will be our future chief executives and directors. Kilfinan’s Emerging Leaders Program is an innovative leadership development opportunity that provides rising stars of social purpose organisations with the time and space to be honest about the challenges they’re facing and be strategic about what they need to do to make an impact.

How it works
Through the program, emerging leaders are matched into long term mentorships with skilled executives from the business, public, or social sectors, who have the experience and insight needed to pass on critical skills and learnings to the next generation. A long-term mentorship equips leaders with the tools and strategies needed to take their leadership to the next level.

Professional benefits
Any good leader knows that the factors that influence change are many and varied. Mentorship is a critical component of professional development – helping drive accountability, engagement, reflective practice, and consistent growth over time.
Our emerging leader mentees increase knowledge of their strengths, weaknesses, and development goals. They experience accelerated learning, and explore new perspectives and ways of thinking. Ultimately, they come away with deepened confidence in their leadership capability, abilities, and skills, and are better positioned to realise their leadership goals.

Eligibility and fees
Kilfinan offers emerging leaders of social impact and charitable organisations (either self nominated or supported by their CEO) to apply to be matched with a Kilfinan mentor.
This is a fee for service program with an annual fee. The fee covers a full candidate assessment process, executive search, mentor matching, and ongoing support. It also gives the emerging leaders access to Kilfinan networking events with mentors and CEOs and participation in Kilfinan education activities.
Contact us for further information.
This fee covers all of the year one benefits, including our unique matching process, ongoing client support, and evaluation. It also subsidises our skill building workshops, events, and ancillary opportunities.
Experience has taught us that one-on-one mentoring results in the most lasting benefit when it lasts two years or more. This low annual fee allows us to continue to support mentorships beyond the critical one-year mark.
If you request a rematch within the first six months of your original match date, we will restart the matching process free of charge, within reasonable limits. Any rematches requested outside of this timeline will attract a rematching fee.
